Samantha - Little Miss Sunshine

Hey everybody. In my last post, I mentioned a pageant that we'd be competing in on the twenty-eighth, called Little Miss Sunshine. Well, this pageant is part of a series of annual pageants for girls eleven and up, sponsored by a compony called BeautifulPageants Inc. There are four pageants, one in each season. (Spring, summer, winter, autumn.) Everybody competes in their age groups, and there are first, second, third place winners, and four honorable mentions. Or 'Runners-up,' whatever you prefer.

I've been competing since I was old enough, which was the spring I turned 11. Thats nine pageants, and not to brag, I placed in eight of them. I got first five times, second twice, and third once. The ninth was this past spring, where I placed seventh. And do you know who won? Rebecca. Yes, Rebecca won first, while I was SEVENTH! That's the lowest honorable mention. Barely a place at all. Before Rebecca started competing, I would win. Now, in the two pageants she's competed in, I've gotten third and seventh. I don't believe it, still. But I do know that this time, I'll win. I have to win. I mean, I know it's not about winning and all, and yeah, sure, it's still fun anyway, but it's funner if you win. Much funner. And I'm the type of girl that wins. I mean, I'm no Nellie O'Malley, but I'm pretty good at pageants. Back when I lived in New York, Nellie and I would do pageants sometimes. Nellie was what you'd call a real pageant girl; she'd been in those little-kid ones from the time she was four. Won most of them, to. Nellie's the type of girl who would always win, with her big eyes and fluffy hair, cute freckles, huge voice, and natural grace. She'd always sing to, if there was a talent division. So would I, and I know that that mat have attributed to the fifths, fourths, and occasional thirds that I racked up, especially as I got older. I know I'm not beautiful. Barely even pretty. Sure, I was a pretty cute kid, but then again, aren't we all? I know my face is to round, and my eyes are to small. My hair is ok, but my bangs are taking years to grow out. But it's not just prettiness that makes you win pageants. Sure, Nellie was pretty - but she also had personality, confidence, a good stage presence, talent. Thats what it takes. Thats why I win. Sure, Rebecca won twice, but she's pretty. She's gorgeous, she's graceful, she's talented. But she doesn't have the personality I have. She might have wowed the judges the first couple times around, but I know I'll win in two weeks.
